Trait 10 of 13
Service
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.
Why it matters
Why this shapes a child
Children who serve discover they are needed, and that discovery reorders how they see themselves. Serving pulls a student out of the self-focus that so much of their world encourages.
Try this at home
Do one small thing for a neighbor together this month — and let your child lead part of it.
Classes cover one trait at a time, so a short conversation at home is usually all it takes to reinforce the week's lesson.
Help your child grow in service.
Weekly classes are voluntary, parent-approved, and led by trusted neighbors from churches across New London.
