Trait 13 of 13
Communication
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up.
Why it matters
Why this shapes a child
Words build people up or tear them down, and children feel that power before they can name it. Learning to listen first and speak carefully protects the relationships a student will need for the rest of their life.
Try this at home
Practice one round of "say it again, kinder" the next time a sharp comment lands at home.
Classes cover one trait at a time, so a short conversation at home is usually all it takes to reinforce the week's lesson.
Help your child grow in communication.
Weekly classes are voluntary, parent-approved, and led by trusted neighbors from churches across New London.
